AP Music Theory

AP Music Theory is a college-level course for serious music students. The course is equivalent to a first-year music theory course for college music majors. It is assumed that each student has adequate vocal/instrumental performance skills and can read music at a basic level.
The purpose of music theory is to help better explore, understand, appreciate, and perform musical compositions. The study of music theory involves the development of many different skills. Students will be expected to demonstrate appropriate listening, singing, piano/keyboard, and part-writing/composition skills throughout the AP Music Theory coursework.

Please note: AP Music Theory will only be offered every other year on a rotation with Music Perspectives. The next time AP Music Theory will be offered is the 2020-2021 school year.
